Student Interviews
Student interviews are an effective way of gauging how your students feel about physical activity, personal health history and what their motivations are. They could be conducted one-on-one during class time while others practice skills.
Grade: intermediate
For, of, as: for.
Summative or Formative: Formative.
Strengths:
Communication between the teacher and one student shows care and creates relationships.
Teachers can understand why a student does or does not like to participate in physical education, and therefore be able to address anything holding students back.
Students can set health and wellness goals for themselves and revisit those goals on a regular basis.
Weaknesses:
If students are younger or need much supervision while practicing skills or playing games, a teacher helper may be required while conducting interviews.
Students may need to be ensured of confidentiality if they are giving information they might be embarrassed about, or private health concerns.
Interviews may be time consuming to conduct, organize and file.
